✍️ Back from hiatus!

Sometimes you need a breather.

Sometimes you just need a breather (and by you, I really mean me), which is why I took off from publishing this newsletter for the month of March.

Now that I’m back, hit reply and let me know what’s going on in your world. Is your project list full? Are you scrambling for clients in April? Somewhere in between?

In the meantime, cast your vote for next week’s newsletter topic! Here’s what’s been on my mind and in my DMs lately…

⛰️The most reliable thing about freelancing is…

Volatility.

It may feel like a hard pill to swallow, but you just have to expect the ups and downs that come with freelancing.

Recent case in point: I “landed” a new agency client a few months ago, but they keep pushing off assignments while they wait for the end client to approve the briefs.

🧘🏻‍♀️ Flexibility is a value proposition for your prospects

Obviously, continued delays make it hard to plan, but I also try to remind myself that freelancing flexibility is a benefit for both us AND clients.

They don’t have to fill an employee’s schedule everyday. And they get to work on their projects as needed thanks to flexible freelancing team members.

I view it as a value-add for my services and remind myself of that whenever I’m frustrated that someone’s timeline doesn’t match my own. It’s also something I mention to prospective clients, especially if they haven’t hired a freelance writer before.

Ultimately, the flexibility (rather than volatility) is just something to accept and embrace as a freelancer — and even use to your advantage when courting leads.

I hope you have a great rest of your week, filled with exciting projects and paid invoices!

Happy freelancing,

Lauren
