Happy New Year, freelance friend!

2024 ended with such turbulence for many in the content/freelancing world. I had plans to work on some professional development stuff while taking time off over the holiday, but ultimately, I was happy to rush around with family in the days leading up to Christmas, and then chill the eff out as the new year rang in.

And I’m still partially in that state of mind. I know a lot of people in the entrepreneurial space are all about CRUSHING those 2025 goals and WINNING BIG!

And that’s cool if that works for you. For me, I’m more like, tip-toeing into 2025. I’m ready to build on sustainable micro habits I started last year and work on developing ongoing lead gen. I also want to nourish relationships with my writer friends and even my clients.

So while I have income goals and project goals, the things I’m tracking are the little habits I do everyday. A lot has changed in freelancing and in my experience, lead time for starting a new project or client is taking longer than ever. It’s not cataclysmic, it’s just different. So I need to adjust my strategy to that.

I did a lot of learning in 2024 (including some Ed Gandia courses if you’re looking for resources), but not a ton of consistent execution. That’s ultimately my 2025 goal - put into action the things I know I “need” to do - but also find ways to enjoy them instead of viewing them as a chore. I want to market in a way that is fun and interesting so that I regularly stick with it. It may take a little experimentation but I’m ready to take the time and make it happen. For me, 2025 is about setting a stronger foundation for my business and staying on top of content marketing trends and needs.

How about you? What type of goals or resolutions are you setting in 2025?

Cheers to a healthy and prosperous 2025,

Lauren
